Walking With You Until You're Through
Walking With You Until You're Through
I have been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 2011. I work with individuals, couples, and families. I use a systemic approach along with strength-based narrative, cognitive-behavioral, and dialectical behavioral theories. I am a board approved supervisor by the Board of Marriage and Family Therapy and The MN Board of Behavioral Health. I have experience working with a variety of diagnosis. I have additional training on ADHD, girls on the spectrum, depression and anxiety disorders, trauma, neuroscience, integrative medicine, and couples/family work.
As a therapist, I am laid back and not "structured." I approach therapy with empathy and compassion, although I'm not described as "warm and fuzzy." EI: A lot of times, people will try to make us “feel better” vs letting us feel our feelings. It doesn’t always “feel good” but pain is a needed emotion. I feel a good, accurate diagnosis is important as it gives us a “road map” for a treatment plan. I dress casually, am person centered, and I am very non-judgmental. I think "living in society's box" is cause for many symptoms and self-acceptance and self love is a therapeutic goal for all.
I have 2 kids, 11 and 8. Life is at a chaotic, get through the day, fall asleep once I'm finally alone, stage. We enjoy arts/crafts, games (video and board), and travel. I love to learn, read, and am an introvert.
Life mottos: everything is fixable....we have to let it suck before we can let it go….life is a working hypothesis.
