Heroes Program
What is it:
The Heroes Program works to gather funding through grants and donations to pay for quality mental health services for first responders. This allows the responder to receive private, no cost, quality care. The Heroes Program allows responders to receive on going care, not just services for critical incidents.
Why we support it:
First Responders have higher rates of depression, anxiety, PTSD, and suicide attempts than the general population. Officer suicide rates are higher than deaths in the line of duty. Many responders delay treatment due to fear of retaliation, fear of negative job evaluations, and worry about stigma, labeling, and privacy.
